I am now deeply enthused by the return of further education to Billingham in the form of the rejuvenated Bede Sixth Form in a brand new purpose-built palace

Creating the dream...

SRC Phase III is the latest development to their campus, across two very different sites. The College itself has been redeveloped not only to include a purpose built Construction, Engineering and Design Centre for Construction learners, but also to cater for growth in learner demand in Beauty, Holistic and Hospitality. Additionally a new sixth form facility – Bede College – was built to replace the existing buildings and allow learners to gain access to a state of the art facility, never previously enjoyed in the area.

Emergent was one of five companies who were set the challenge of furnishing this redevelopment, as the College looked to select a creative, innovative and forward thinking supplier who could not only meet their demanding needs, but exceed their expectations.

"For the £27m Stockton Riverside College redevelopment programme, Emergent was selected on the basis of the design solutions, quality and cost of product. Despite tight timetables and challenging site conditions the furniture was delivered and installed on time for the new buildings opening."

Concept to reality…

The College’s aims were clear - to make inviting and inspiring open spaces; using innovative products and designs that would positively influence learners not only in how they want to learn, but also when and where they learnt. With this brief in mind, we set our Design team off to do what they do best, and arrive at the optimal proposal. In addition to providing standard ranges of desking, seating and storage, our innovative solutions had to include specialist furniture for the College’s ‘Silver Service and Breakout Areas’ as well as bespoke soft seating for the impressive ‘Modern Open Plan Reception’.

The solutions proposed met all the College’s needs. They were innovative, using modern designs and styles, whilst all the time offering excellent quality, low whole life costs, keeping within budget and an eye on our environmental impact.

“We have a reputation across the Tees Valley for providing high
quality vocational provision, and now we can increase the number and variety of courses that we offer in facilities equipped with the latest technology.”

(Dr Frank King,  Chairman of Governors at Stockton Riverside College)
